The publicly available page of the VRE - i.e. https://bluebridge.d4science.org/web/ices_dasc - should be revised to include:

  • a short description of the scope of the VRE and the challenges that it addresses;
  • a clear statement describing who are the communities and the stakeholders that can use the VRE and the main benefits that they can get;
  • a clear statement on the main services made available by the VRE;
  • a "demo" (screenshots or video);
  • links to related documents;

ICES training course Design and Analysis of Statistically Sound Catch Sampling Programmes

Design and Analysis of Statistically Sound Catch Sampling Programmes was an applied statistical methods course, concerned almost exclusively with the design of commercial fishery data collection based on statistical sampling schemes. The course aimed to examine the problems of applying sampling methods, particularly the principles of sample selection and basic estimation, using case studies to demonstrate practical application.

The course was at a moderately advanced statistical level, and while it was not aiming to develop the mathematical aspects of sampling theory, it did include statistical notation. Attendees should be comfortable with introductory -level statistical concepts regarding sampling designs.‚Äč

The VRE provided a platform for communication, document sharing, information sharing and identification of other course participants.
