Description

in the context of a conference and workshop with french data managers from different institutes like CNRS, INRA, IRD..(https://sist19.sciencesconf.org), we would like to demonstrate how a VRE can be used to manage a SDI and populate Geonetwork / Geoserver from RStudio server.
Could we use a D4science VRE (SDIlab / RStudioLab) to train the participants ? The workshop will take place thursday 7th of november.

The SDILab VRE is equipped with the services you need. You can use this VRE in the context of this workshop.

How many attendees you plan to train?

Thank you. We should have a dozen of participants. I was wandering if the resources needed to be increased for such a workshop. We will run some tests before.

@pasquale.pagano@isti.cnr.it I take the opportunity of this ticket to ask you if we could have the SDI_Lab reachable through https://i-marine.d4science.org ? From discussions with FAO colleagues I understand that we should disseminate links with "i-marine" base name, and not anymore bluebridge. Is it correct? At now the SDI lab is only reachable through https://bluebridge.d4science.org Thanks in advance for your advice

yes, we can do it easily if @a.ellenbroek@gmail.com authorises it.

After Anton's authorisation on behalf of iMarine, @massimiliano.assante@isti.cnr.it will enable SDI lab on the iMarine gateway.

Yes, this is also interesting in the context of the Blue Cloud Fisheries Demonstrator and FAO approves.

Now, it is up to Massi to enable it in iMarine by tomorrow.

Please let us know if you wish to change the description of the VRE.

It seems the workshop took place, although the users registered in BlueBRIDGE Gateway.

Yes the workshop went well. Sorry I used BlueBridge gateway (I am not clear with the new way to do it properly). We only had minor issues when launching RStudio (some "error 400" if I remember well) but it's been fixed by reconnecting the user thereafter.
Good feedback from the users as well about the interest of the VRE (users were only some data managers from french research institutes: CRNS, INRA, IRD..).

We discussed as well the opportunity to set up a new workshop in one year or later in 2021 when we will have some new developments.

Jupyter notebook is identified as new component to be added to run such workshops.
