I am assigning the ticket to @massimiliano.assante@isti.cnr.it. He will take of the creation of the VRE asap.

Is the RShiny app developed by Enrico Anello running on https?
The one I know is accessible at http://vps282167.ovh.net:3838/stockMonitoringTools/?serviceToken=a61e132a-5ddc-4265-9331-f0ca19cf55b3-843339462. This application has to be modified to accept the token of the user logged in the portal (I assume) and it has to run on https.

Please let us know if we have to host it before the VRE is deployed.

#3 Updated by Enrico Anello over 1 year ago

The shiny application has to be deployed in the shiny proxy.
Latest modifications are expected early next week before producing a docker image.

I believe the shiny proxy will let the application run under https.

The application can now get a serviceToken GET parameter and uses it to connect to the WPS/Dataminer

Dear @massimiliano.assante@isti.cnr.it and @roberto.cirillo@isti.cnr.it, I schematically report what is needed for this VRE:

VRE Name: SDG Indicator 14.4.1
VRE Description: This VRE supports the FAO training workshop on "Best-practices for the implementation and reporting of SDG Indicator 14.4.1 - Percentage of biologically sustainable fish stocks" by Dr. Yimin YE, FAO FIAF Branch Chief at FAO Headquarters – India Room - November 21 to 24, 2017. The VRE provides access to a Web tool supporting the application of several stock assessment models through a unique interface, using a Cloud computing service behind the scenes.
This workshop is part of FAO's initiative to support the process of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Its main objectives are to raise awareness on SDG 14 and the significance and global reporting process for Indicator 14.4.1 - Percentage of biologically sustainable fish stocks. It will also provide technical training to national practitioners in data requirements, data collection process, analytical methods to produce Indicator 14.4.1, to facilitate and support the global reporting process.
VRE Managers: A.Ellenbroek, E.Anello, G. Coro

Inside the VRE there should be one application only, corresponding to Enrico's application http://vps282167.ovh.net:3838/stockMonitoringTools/?serviceToken=a61e132a-5ddc-4265-9331-f0ca19cf55b3-843339462. The cloud1 DataMiner cluster should be made available behind the scenes. There is no need for Geospatial and catalogue resources.

We should have time to test it and make Yimin subscribe. I propose to move the due date to a bit earlier date.

Today is the due date for this VRE. What is the status? The trainer, Yimin Ye, has just asked for the VRE and has been provided with a public link to Enrico's private machine. I fear that if we wait another two days this VRE will be useless.

#6 Updated by Enrico Anello over 1 year ago

Hi Gianpaolo, yesterday we asked to install the shiny application in the shiny proxy, see #9670
Nothing as come yet and I agree that this task must have the higher priority.

We're going to deploy the VRE however we cannot embed the Enrico's application as long as it runs over plain http on fancy port -> http://vps282167.ovh.net:3838 (it must run over https, port 443 with a valid and recognised certificate) @enrico.anello@fao.org

#9 Updated by Enrico Anello over 1 year ago

@massimiliano.assante@isti.cnr.it the application running over vps282167.ovh.net:3838 should not be taken in any consideration! that instance is running on a server of mine with not even a reliable shiny server!
It has been asked to deploy the shiny app in your shiny proxy yesterday, see #9670

@enrico.anello@fao.org then we have to wait until @andrea.dellamico@isti.cnr.it or @tommaso.piccioli@isti.cnr.it provides me with the (https) link to your shiny app in D4S shiny proxy. Guess it shouldn't take long. The VRE creation is in progress

The VRE is available at https://bluebridge.d4science.org/group/sdg-indicator14.4.1

@gianpaolo.coro@isti.cnr.it @anton.ellenbroek@fao.org @enrico.anello@fao.org have been set as VRE Managers. A temporary logo has been added as well, if you have the logo please provide it.

Waiting for our sysadmins to provide the https link to the shiny app

Dear @massimiliano.assante@isti.cnr.it and @roberto.cirillo@isti.cnr.it
Among the VRE requirements there is also "The cloud1 DataMiner cluster should be made available behind the scenes". Is it possible to add it?

#15 Updated by Gianpaolo Coro over 1 year ago

One rapid way of integration is to have a button that opens the application in another tab without asking for authentication. Granting the application public access was one of the requirements of this activity.
